Contrary to what we've been taught in literature, All Men & Women ARE an Island at our most basic level of Being.

The Island

A fixed board of chess

With limited moves

Still, an island's no prison

Though choice seems removed.

Your strategy's Sacred:

To 'live, and let live'.

To nurture your neighbors

To learn how to give.

No city emotions,

No dog-eat-dog ways

A hand that's extended

Is not pulled away.

To wander the townships,

Explore hidden bays,

To seek out the Beauty

That's found in each day.

A sketch and a photo,

An inspired verse,

To capture the Moment,

To place in one's purse.

Life's treasure here's gathered

By spending one's time.

In the fullness of NOW,

In the joy of Life's Rhyme.

All large numbers vanish,

Crowds become few,

Hundreds; a handful,

And handfuls; just two.

For Happy's the Island

Where the many are ONE,

Where two are a Couple,

'Neath beach glistening Sun.

A Single Theme surfaces

From chaos-waved Thought

More lasting than trinkets

And souvenirs bought.

The One 'Isle' to treasure

Is the 'island' that's You.

Unnoticed by routine

And habits it's true.

It takes a vacation

To step back and see,

We all are like islands

In the midst of a 'Sea'

Of confusion, adventure

And vain failed attempts,

To find our true Natures;

To straighten what's bent.

But, in midst of an ocean

Full of wanderers like me

I can't get directions

From those blind as me.

A light house leads onward

Past confusion to Dawn

The beach and the docks

Seek to beckon you on

Your High Self's the Light House,

It's directions are True

And guiding you towards

A better port than you knew.

At least for a moment

To find Soul some rest,

An oasis called 'Island'

And, a peaceful home blessed.

A moment alone

With no time clock or mob,

or 30-minute lunch 'hours'

They've vanished . . . Are gone.

Alone with your Thoughts

If you let them come in,

Even better . . . be Thought less,

... Let Vacation begin!
